Lily (My One and Only)

I'm sure most of you have heard the news, but Matt and I are now the proud parents of Lillian Marie. She was born on Sunday, August 16th at 10:18 AM, at 7 pounds, 3 ounces and 19 inches.

We've been home from the hospital since yesterday afternoon and things are going really well. Lily is a good sleeper and is becoming a good eater too but Matt, Grandma Judy and I still have our hands full!

I'll post more photos and a more detailed account of her birth (don't worry, not too detailed) later this week, but just wanted to share a few photos now.

    Just saw it on Facebook and then here. Oh my god, how did I just find out. I have to visit you! Ry and I will be in the city Saturday. Maybe we can stop by and meet the little bugger. Glad to hear you are well. What a beautiful little girl.

    Thank you! When we were picking out names, I was so partial to Lily in part because I wanted to be able to sing her that song. I love Smashing Pumpkins but Porcelina or Ava Adore just didn't have the same ring. ;) Hope all is well!

Holy smokes, I haven’t blogged since our November vacay to French Polynesia!!!!  I knew it had been a while but didn’t realize how far off the blagon I was! So much has happened in the past 2 months for us all & it feels a bit silly to blog about anything but at the same time, we all probably benefit from a little distraction, right? Good gods, it's been so long I almost don't know where to start!  Despite 2020 being 2020, we still had a really nice end to the year.  That period from Halloween to Christmas is always my favorite and still felt special even though we didn't get to do some of our traditions like the annual Christmas tree lighting on the Pier. In some ways I'm actually finding 2021 to be rougher than 2020.  We've turned the page on the year but in LA we haven't really turned the page on the pandemic yet.  As of a few days ago we were still hovering above the 15% ICU bed availability so it's hard to feel a sense of progress, even as so many other places seem to be on a path to normalcy.  We're also in the midst of our umpteenth COVID scare of the past year with our umpteenth suite of negative test results to match.  I don't understand how it's possible for our family to get so many colds when we barely leave the house. Gettin' Back in Shape

After losing most of my Jason-weight pretty quickly, I've stalled hard the past few months.  I don't have any excuses but I have a ton of reasons: I really enjoy having wine with dinner most nights. I really enjoy having something sweet after dinner most nights. I really don't enjoy running or any sort of cardio-aerobic activity. I really hate counting calories or keeping a food journal. I seem to always have morning calls, which cause me to miss the exercise class that I like the best.  Every time I got into a rhythm, I would get interrupted with another project that requires morning calls. I can lose weight pretty easily when I actually get my butt in gear so I never feel a sense of urgency about it. I was still nursing and hungry all the time. I could go on & on b ut after weaning Jason about a month ago, I lost that last one.  Since then, I started working out with a trainer every Tuesday afternoon & going to her group class every Friday morning.
