An Honest Fall Uniform

This is that time of year where everyone is blogging about their "Fall uniform," which is always something really non-uniform-y like over-the-knee boots with a Gucci belt and long Kardashian-like hair.  I'm not being a hater because I love reading fashion blogs and look to them for inspiration but still, does anyone really dress like that to run to Vons or drop their kids off at school?

So in the spirit of honesty, and because I'm a blogger but not a fashion blogger, here's my honest Fall uniform:  

OMG, it's jeans & a t-shirt!  It also happens to be exactly the same as my Spring uniform and pretty much the same as my Winter (add a cardigan) and Summer (swap out the jeans for jean shorts) unforms.

I went to LA Live for a client dinner (side note, it felt so good to get out of the house and socialize with adults after being home-bound with an infant for the past 5 weeks) and could not believe that Christmas decorations were up already!  WTF?!

Rosie's first real (i.e., not gas-related) smile for me.

Lily getting in some sister snuggles before school.  I'm proud of myself because I made it up and out to walk Lily and her friend to school 4 days this week, despite Rosie generally being a pisser and waking up to nurse sooooo much.
I hope everyone has a good weekend!  Tonight we're making some Korean beef bulgogi and watching basketball and I'm day-dreaming about winning the lottery (seriously, it's at $999 million!!!).  The rest of the weekend, we're just hanging around, doing stuff with the kids and trying to enjoy our standard October heat wave.  Luckily we're used to it so Matt hasn't removed the air conditioner from our room yet.

Holy smokes, I haven’t blogged since our November vacay to French Polynesia!!!!  I knew it had been a while but didn’t realize how far off the blagon I was! So much has happened in the past 2 months for us all & it feels a bit silly to blog about anything but at the same time, we all probably benefit from a little distraction, right? Good gods, it's been so long I almost don't know where to start!  Despite 2020 being 2020, we still had a really nice end to the year.  That period from Halloween to Christmas is always my favorite and still felt special even though we didn't get to do some of our traditions like the annual Christmas tree lighting on the Pier. In some ways I'm actually finding 2021 to be rougher than 2020.  We've turned the page on the year but in LA we haven't really turned the page on the pandemic yet.  As of a few days ago we were still hovering above the 15% ICU bed availability so it's hard to feel a sense of progress, even as so many other places seem to be on a path to normalcy.  We're also in the midst of our umpteenth COVID scare of the past year with our umpteenth suite of negative test results to match.  I don't understand how it's possible for our family to get so many colds when we barely leave the house. Gettin' Back in Shape

After losing most of my Jason-weight pretty quickly, I've stalled hard the past few months.  I don't have any excuses but I have a ton of reasons: I really enjoy having wine with dinner most nights. I really enjoy having something sweet after dinner most nights. I really don't enjoy running or any sort of cardio-aerobic activity. I really hate counting calories or keeping a food journal. I seem to always have morning calls, which cause me to miss the exercise class that I like the best.  Every time I got into a rhythm, I would get interrupted with another project that requires morning calls. I can lose weight pretty easily when I actually get my butt in gear so I never feel a sense of urgency about it. I was still nursing and hungry all the time. I could go on & on b ut after weaning Jason about a month ago, I lost that last one.  Since then, I started working out with a trainer every Tuesday afternoon & going to her group class every Friday morning.
