Gone Girl

Matt and I were recently laughing about how we both have shows & movies that we want to watch, that we know the other person won't want to watch, and yet when we are alone and have the opportunity to watch them we can't remember what they are and waste an hour looking through Netflix and HBO Go before giving up and going to bed.  In an effort to avoid wasting time Matt now just watches the Accountant and I just watch Gone Girl.  So that's what I'm doing now!

The only photo of the bachelorette party that I'll post!  We had a wonderful time and it was so awesome to spend 4 days with Kim and all of her rad friends.  I was worried I wouldn't make it the whole 4 days but it ended up being fine.  That said, I was so anxious to get back home by Sunday morning.  Lily was thrilled to see me.  Jason, on the other hand, seemed a little miffed and didn't really acknowledge me for a few minutes.

Matt and Lily saying goodbye to the GTI at Carmax yesterday.  We sold our trusty "new car" after getting a big-ass Atlas lat week.  We are the new Atlas commercial in action!  I love the Atlas so far but we were all a little weepy at having to say farewell to the GTI.

Jason in the bath tonight wearing a "washcloth beard" like his daddy used to when he was a baby.  Jason loves bath time so much; the water is always cold by the time he's done splashing around.

Holy smokes, I haven’t blogged since our November vacay to French Polynesia!!!!  I knew it had been a while but didn’t realize how far off the blagon I was! So much has happened in the past 2 months for us all & it feels a bit silly to blog about anything but at the same time, we all probably benefit from a little distraction, right? There have been a ton of tips out there about working from home.  Having given my share  already , I didn’t really read anything that I wasn’t already generally aware of and for the first month of quarantine it was pretty much business as usual for me. Good gods, it's been so long I almost don't know where to start!  Despite 2020 being 2020, we still had a really nice end to the year.  That period from Halloween to Christmas is always my favorite and still felt special even though we didn't get to do some of our traditions like the annual Christmas tree lighting on the Pier. In some ways I'm actually finding 2021 to be rougher than 2020.  We've turned the page on the year but in LA we haven't really turned the page on the pandemic yet.  As of a few days ago we were still hovering above the 15% ICU bed availability so it's hard to feel a sense of progress, even as so many other places seem to be on a path to normalcy.  We're also in the midst of our umpteenth COVID scare of the past year with our umpteenth suite of negative test results to match.  I don't understand how it's possible for our family to get so many colds when we barely leave the house. Gettin' Back in Shape

After losing most of my Jason-weight pretty quickly, I've stalled hard the past few months.  I don't have any excuses but I have a ton of reasons: I really enjoy having wine with dinner most nights. I really enjoy having something sweet after dinner most nights. I really don't enjoy running or any sort of cardio-aerobic activity. I really hate counting calories or keeping a food journal. I seem to always have morning calls, which cause me to miss the exercise class that I like the best.  Every time I got into a rhythm, I would get interrupted with another project that requires morning calls. I can lose weight pretty easily when I actually get my butt in gear so I never feel a sense of urgency about it. I was still nursing and hungry all the time. I could go on & on b ut after weaning Jason about a month ago, I lost that last one.  Since then, I started working out with a trainer every Tuesday afternoon & going to her group class every Friday morning.
