Viva Las Vegas

Lily has been begging to go to Las Vegas for a few years, ever since one of her friends went and came back with stories of neon lights, a real pyramid and mock Eiffel Tower.  We made her dreams come true last week when we met Grandma Kathy & Grandpa Marc in Sin City so Matt and Marc could see Steely Dan for the 500th time.

This is my new favorite picture of Jason.  He was smiling so big for his Daddy.
We took him swimming for the first time, with mixed results.  He seemed to like it but it was quite cold and windy outside so he wasn't really comfortable.  We'll try again this summer in Tarzana.

This is my new favorite picture of Lily!  She looks so grown up.

We did a lot of walking around and eating in Vegas but also had considerable down time in the room due to the kiddos.  Jason was happy to watch Lily play on her phone...

And was thrilled every time she stopped to pay attention to him.

I took Jason for his 4 month old checkup  a little late and the doctor was really impressed at his head strength and ability to sit and stand up with a little help.  He's rolling over both ways now and even started doing an army crawl for Matt this morning.  On top of that, he's already got 2 teeth!  Lily didn't get her first tooth until she was 8 months old so he's way earlier than her.  It's made me a little sad and wistful for his newborn days.

Lily lounging by the pool at the Wynn.  We went swimming every day we were there!

And she loved the water fountain near Shake Shack when you walk across the faux Brooklyn Bridge.

But the main event was our trip to the Paris Hotel, where she ate a French dip sandwich at a Parisian cafe.  She was so excited.  Ever since she saw the American Girl movie about Grace, a French baker, she's been itching to go to France some day. This was the next best thing!

Lil before softball practice last week.  She's been enjoying softball and I'm so impressed at her gumption.  When I was her age I would have been terrified to be in the spotlight as a pitcher but she's pitched in 3 games now.  Today was a rough game; she didn't throw a single strike in the inning that she pitched. Still, she hung in there and didn't get discouraged.

Jason doing his fish pose.  He loves looking at the world upside down.

At the beginning of April I looked at the calendar and the crazy amount of travel we were doing and said to myself "Just get through this month.  Don't think about anything beyond this month and we'll get through it."  It worked!  Somehow we got through April and now we're into May.  This month isn't quite so crazy but we've got Lily's first communion next week.  This week's big task is trying to get Lily enrolled in various summer camps and childcare scenarios so we're covered for the summer.  It's such a grind now that she's aged out of her usual summer camp.
