Sprinkle

Everyone got me good a few weeks ago with my surprise sprinkle!  Kathy & Marc came into town for a visit but I had a ladies' brunch at Shelly's scheduled for Sunday.  Matt, Kathy & Lily headed out to brunch on their own while Marc went for a run.  When I showed up at Shelly's I found Kathy and a very excited Lily there!  And then I understood why Shelly kept telling me I didn't need to bring anything to brunch.  :)

We all got a nice laugh over the fact that Jim was basically wearing one of the onesies my Mom gave the baby. 

I love this photo!  Lil had such a good time at the shower.  She loved being with the ladies and really loved being able to pull one over on me.

Lily hasn't been jealous of the impending baby so far but the same can't be said for Jakers, who sat in my lap almost the whole afternoon.

Sonal, Tracey, Lizzy, Mishel & Lindsay were all there too (plus Liz & K who were out of frame).

Chillin' with my big girl.  She's so excited to be a big sister.  The baby really does seem to respond to her voice and always moves when she talks to him through my belly.  This morning she speculated that when he's born and meets her he'll be thinking "There's my big sissy; I love her so much!"

Holy smokes, I haven’t blogged since our November vacay to French Polynesia!!!!  I knew it had been a while but didn’t realize how far off the blagon I was! So much has happened in the past 2 months for us all & it feels a bit silly to blog about anything but at the same time, we all probably benefit from a little distraction, right? There have been a ton of tips out there about working from home.  Having given my share  already , I didn’t really read anything that I wasn’t already generally aware of and for the first month of quarantine it was pretty much business as usual for me. Good gods, it's been so long I almost don't know where to start!  Despite 2020 being 2020, we still had a really nice end to the year.  That period from Halloween to Christmas is always my favorite and still felt special even though we didn't get to do some of our traditions like the annual Christmas tree lighting on the Pier. In some ways I'm actually finding 2021 to be rougher than 2020.  We've turned the page on the year but in LA we haven't really turned the page on the pandemic yet.  As of a few days ago we were still hovering above the 15% ICU bed availability so it's hard to feel a sense of progress, even as so many other places seem to be on a path to normalcy.  We're also in the midst of our umpteenth COVID scare of the past year with our umpteenth suite of negative test results to match.  I don't understand how it's possible for our family to get so many colds when we barely leave the house. Gettin' Back in Shape

After losing most of my Jason-weight pretty quickly, I've stalled hard the past few months.  I don't have any excuses but I have a ton of reasons: I really enjoy having wine with dinner most nights. I really enjoy having something sweet after dinner most nights. I really don't enjoy running or any sort of cardio-aerobic activity. I really hate counting calories or keeping a food journal. I seem to always have morning calls, which cause me to miss the exercise class that I like the best.  Every time I got into a rhythm, I would get interrupted with another project that requires morning calls. I can lose weight pretty easily when I actually get my butt in gear so I never feel a sense of urgency about it. I was still nursing and hungry all the time. I could go on & on b ut after weaning Jason about a month ago, I lost that last one.  Since then, I started working out with a trainer every Tuesday afternoon & going to her group class every Friday morning.
