4 Years Old!

It's hard to believe but Lils turned 4 yesterday!  Matt & I took the day off from work and we had a nice birthday brunch with Aunt Kim at Tammy's Cafe and then hung at the beach for a bit.  Grandpa Marc and Grandma Kathy arrived in the afternoon and we had a nice dinner with everyone all together (Great Grandpa Larry & Great Grandma Rita, Caren & Levi too) at the Marmalade Cafe in El Segundo.  This morning was spent doing more party prep and making cake pops (thank you Aunt Kim).  The party was great and Lily was so happy to have so many of her friends over.

This is actually from last week when we saw Shrek the Musical with Grandpa Tom & Grandma Judy (I wore the same thing today; woops).  We celebrated Lily's birthday with them last weekend since they left for Ireland today.

Yesterday, with some birthday toys from Mom & Dad & wearing the Hello Kitty shirt from Grandpa Tom & Grandma Judy.

Posing in front of the cake pops (actually brownie pops).

Lily & Great Grandpa Larry.

Lily was so excited to hang the birthday banner.

Uncle Brian's coachella tent came in handy with some shade.

Goofing with Aunt Kim.

Grandpa Marc took over as official photographer so I actually get to be in a lot of photos for once.  Thanks Marc!  BTW, you would not believe how long it took to crack this pinata.

This would be a lovely family portrait if it wasn't for Kim sitting in Kathy's lap!

Marc got artsy with a portrait of Zach.

Still trying to crack the pinata!  I finally gave it a strong hit myself to get it started.

When the pinata fell the kids went crazy to collect the candy but they didn't seem to know to eat the candy. The were clutching their bags of candy but I didn't see anyone actually eat any.

Singing Happy Birthday with cake pops.

Levi manning the cake pops and Pirate's Booty.  The Pirate's Booty actually seemed more attractive to the kids than the cake pops.

Eating cake pops and hanging out.

Putting on a concert for Lucas after everyone else had left.

Lucas thought I was hilarious!  Mishel now took over official photographer duties.

A sweet shot of Villy & Lucas.

This gift (from Charlotte) was Lily's favorite by a long shot.  A Sofia the First doll and dress-up outfit, complete with necklace, earrings & tiara?  Heaven!

Lucas being a goof.  He was Lily's first friend when she started at Bright Horizons 2 years ago.  I can't believe how grown-up they both are now.

Rita & Larry got Lily a Disney princess hair salon set, complete with play flat-iron, curling iron & a blow dryer that actually blows air.  She played hair salon and said I had to wait until she called my name to get my hair done.  Kim now took over as official photographer.

And decided that she would take a journalistic approach by documenting the handle coming off of our front porch door.

Using the faux blow dryer.

Lily took an extremely long bath to wind down after the party.  We thought she'd fall asleep quickly but instead she's still awake now at 9:40.  Maybe she'll sleep later tomorrow?
