In the Navy

Brian spent Monday in El Segundo at the local Navy office, filling out paperwork and preparing for Tuesday's 4 AM wakeup call.  He was done early enough on Monday that Mom, Dad, Lily, I, and 2 of Brian's friends were able to go down and meet him for dinner at Marmelade Cafe.  It was nice to see him one last time.

He had a 3 PM flight to O'Hare and probably got to the Great Lakes Training Facility at around 10 PM but Mom & Dad didn't hear from him until 10:30 our time, which means he was still up at 12:30 his time.

According to Wikipedia, he'll be at Great Lakes for 7 weeks and this first week consist of a swim qualification test, learning drills, learning details of rank and rating and "Navy core values."  We won't be able to talk to him on the phone for 2 or 3 weeks so we'll just be guessing at what he's up to until then.  There's a YouTube video about Navy boot camp that showed what the first week is like so I have some clue.
