Kauai- Day Nine

The weather was not so great yesterday so the beach and pool were out.  :(  Luckily we still had one last sight to see- Waimea Canyon.

The only way Lily will stay still long enough to braid her hair is if I put Yo Gabba Gabba on!

Lils at Waimea landing.  I thought it was a black sand beach but after smelling it and seeing the "do not walk on sand" signs we realized it was a garbage beach.

We had hoped the weather would clear up for our last morning here so we could take one more trip to the beach.  Instead it's been pouring buckets all night.  The thunder has been so loud that we literally jumped out of bed this morning.  I'm sad that we haven't been to the beach in the past 2 days but at least the rain makes it easier to head back to LA this afternoon.  It's been an amazing vacation and while I wouldn't say I'm ready to go back to work, I think I'm ready to get back to our apartment.  I know Lily is ready to get back to school because she keeps talking about her friends!

Holy smokes, I haven’t blogged since our November vacay to French Polynesia!!!!  I knew it had been a while but didn’t realize how far off the blagon I was! So much has happened in the past 2 months for us all & it feels a bit silly to blog about anything but at the same time, we all probably benefit from a little distraction, right? There have been a ton of tips out there about working from home.  Having given my share  already , I didn’t really read anything that I wasn’t already generally aware of and for the first month of quarantine it was pretty much business as usual for me. Good gods, it's been so long I almost don't know where to start!  Despite 2020 being 2020, we still had a really nice end to the year.  That period from Halloween to Christmas is always my favorite and still felt special even though we didn't get to do some of our traditions like the annual Christmas tree lighting on the Pier. In some ways I'm actually finding 2021 to be rougher than 2020.  We've turned the page on the year but in LA we haven't really turned the page on the pandemic yet.  As of a few days ago we were still hovering above the 15% ICU bed availability so it's hard to feel a sense of progress, even as so many other places seem to be on a path to normalcy.  We're also in the midst of our umpteenth COVID scare of the past year with our umpteenth suite of negative test results to match.  I don't understand how it's possible for our family to get so many colds when we barely leave the house. Gettin' Back in Shape

After losing most of my Jason-weight pretty quickly, I've stalled hard the past few months.  I don't have any excuses but I have a ton of reasons: I really enjoy having wine with dinner most nights. I really enjoy having something sweet after dinner most nights. I really don't enjoy running or any sort of cardio-aerobic activity. I really hate counting calories or keeping a food journal. I seem to always have morning calls, which cause me to miss the exercise class that I like the best.  Every time I got into a rhythm, I would get interrupted with another project that requires morning calls. I can lose weight pretty easily when I actually get my butt in gear so I never feel a sense of urgency about it. I was still nursing and hungry all the time. I could go on & on b ut after weaning Jason about a month ago, I lost that last one.  Since then, I started working out with a trainer every Tuesday afternoon & going to her group class every Friday morning.
