Sick Baby

Lily has been in sad shape this weekend.  For the past 3 nights, she's been crying and moaning throughout the night and sniffly and snotty throughout the day.  She went down to bed a bit easier tonight and has only woke up once to cry so hopefully tonight will be better than last night.  Our neighbors must love us after Lily's 4 hour crying marathon last night.  She was pretty much asleep and inconsolable so we were forced to just let her cry, which was just about the worst thing ever.  But we did get to end the weekend on a nice note with a Sunday night dinner with my parents and Uncle Brian, who was visiting from Tuscon for the weekend.

Maybe it's because she was kind of sick all week, but she was extra naughty for Grandma Judy... not that Grandma Judy minds.  It just gives her a good photo op!

On Wednesday, Lils found her way to a box of power bars, which she managed to open and then open one of the wrappers!

Because she's Grandma Judy's baby, her reward was that she got to eat the power bar.

I think they taste like cardboard but Lily's been known to eat cardboard too so I guess she's not that discriminating.
Life has been hectic lately so I doubt I'll be able to post again before next weekend.  I'm just barely keeping up with my bar study schedule but I've hit a wall for the night and am going to bed.  Hope everyone's weekend was fun and restorative!

Holy smokes, I haven’t blogged since our November vacay to French Polynesia!!!!  I knew it had been a while but didn’t realize how far off the blagon I was! So much has happened in the past 2 months for us all & it feels a bit silly to blog about anything but at the same time, we all probably benefit from a little distraction, right? Good gods, it's been so long I almost don't know where to start!  Despite 2020 being 2020, we still had a really nice end to the year.  That period from Halloween to Christmas is always my favorite and still felt special even though we didn't get to do some of our traditions like the annual Christmas tree lighting on the Pier. In some ways I'm actually finding 2021 to be rougher than 2020.  We've turned the page on the year but in LA we haven't really turned the page on the pandemic yet.  As of a few days ago we were still hovering above the 15% ICU bed availability so it's hard to feel a sense of progress, even as so many other places seem to be on a path to normalcy.  We're also in the midst of our umpteenth COVID scare of the past year with our umpteenth suite of negative test results to match.  I don't understand how it's possible for our family to get so many colds when we barely leave the house. Gettin' Back in Shape

After losing most of my Jason-weight pretty quickly, I've stalled hard the past few months.  I don't have any excuses but I have a ton of reasons: I really enjoy having wine with dinner most nights. I really enjoy having something sweet after dinner most nights. I really don't enjoy running or any sort of cardio-aerobic activity. I really hate counting calories or keeping a food journal. I seem to always have morning calls, which cause me to miss the exercise class that I like the best.  Every time I got into a rhythm, I would get interrupted with another project that requires morning calls. I can lose weight pretty easily when I actually get my butt in gear so I never feel a sense of urgency about it. I was still nursing and hungry all the time. I could go on & on b ut after weaning Jason about a month ago, I lost that last one.  Since then, I started working out with a trainer every Tuesday afternoon & going to her group class every Friday morning.
