Chicago goes to L.A. Live

Sadly, our long weekend of cousin-fun is coming to an end.  Mark's family has to leave for the airport soon.  :(  We've had so much fun and I wish we could see them all the time like the good ole Chicago days.  I know Lily is going to miss the kids so much.  When they were out of the house on Saturday, she kept walking from room to room, looking for them. 

But we ended their trip with a bang... or, a trip to L.A. Live to see the Christmas decorations and then over to Staples Center for the Blackhawks game.  The kids were so excited to watch the game from the suite and luckily the Blackhawks won so Nicholas was ecstatic.

After the Thabs leave for the airport, Matt and I are off to pick up a U Haul rental.  The goal for today is to get everything from the storage unit and a few things from the house into the new apartment.  Then we'll pack everything else up next Saturday and move the rest of the stuff and furniture next Sunday.  I really, really, really hate moving but at least we don't have far to go this time.

Holy smokes, I haven’t blogged since our November vacay to French Polynesia!!!!  I knew it had been a while but didn’t realize how far off the blagon I was! So much has happened in the past 2 months for us all & it feels a bit silly to blog about anything but at the same time, we all probably benefit from a little distraction, right? Good gods, it's been so long I almost don't know where to start!  Despite 2020 being 2020, we still had a really nice end to the year.  That period from Halloween to Christmas is always my favorite and still felt special even though we didn't get to do some of our traditions like the annual Christmas tree lighting on the Pier. In some ways I'm actually finding 2021 to be rougher than 2020.  We've turned the page on the year but in LA we haven't really turned the page on the pandemic yet.  As of a few days ago we were still hovering above the 15% ICU bed availability so it's hard to feel a sense of progress, even as so many other places seem to be on a path to normalcy.  We're also in the midst of our umpteenth COVID scare of the past year with our umpteenth suite of negative test results to match.  I don't understand how it's possible for our family to get so many colds when we barely leave the house. Gettin' Back in Shape

After losing most of my Jason-weight pretty quickly, I've stalled hard the past few months.  I don't have any excuses but I have a ton of reasons: I really enjoy having wine with dinner most nights. I really enjoy having something sweet after dinner most nights. I really don't enjoy running or any sort of cardio-aerobic activity. I really hate counting calories or keeping a food journal. I seem to always have morning calls, which cause me to miss the exercise class that I like the best.  Every time I got into a rhythm, I would get interrupted with another project that requires morning calls. I can lose weight pretty easily when I actually get my butt in gear so I never feel a sense of urgency about it. I was still nursing and hungry all the time. I could go on & on b ut after weaning Jason about a month ago, I lost that last one.  Since then, I started working out with a trainer every Tuesday afternoon & going to her group class every Friday morning.
