These Pink Skechers Were Made for Walking

While Tom and Judy played with their good friends MaryAnne & Joe in Las Vegas, Matt, Lils & I were all by our lonesome this weekend.  Matt and I kicked off Thursday night with a viewing of I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell.  Despite the really poor reviews, Matt and I both really enjoyed it.   Seeing the movie kicked off my weekend of reading Tucker Max's stories on his blog.  Warning:  they are not for the easily (or even not so easily) offended, but they are hilarious.  

Then we celebrated our first week with both of us working with a visit to the Cheesecake Factory on Friday night.  Yes, we definitely live in the suburbs now. 

Saturday was spent playing and lounging about and today included more of the same.  We did take a quick jaunt to the Skechers store on Ventura Blvd. to buy Lils some play shoes now that she's officially a toddler.  Here are some pics of her new pink play shoes:

She had a little trouble walking in the shoes.  I think it's going to take her some time to get used to them.  But she was very into them and seemed to understand that it was special that she was wearing real shoes.  She also got a pair of brown and pink light-up sneakers but they'll be better for the Fall.

Holy smokes, I haven’t blogged since our November vacay to French Polynesia!!!!  I knew it had been a while but didn’t realize how far off the blagon I was! So much has happened in the past 2 months for us all & it feels a bit silly to blog about anything but at the same time, we all probably benefit from a little distraction, right? There have been a ton of tips out there about working from home.  Having given my share  already , I didn’t really read anything that I wasn’t already generally aware of and for the first month of quarantine it was pretty much business as usual for me. Good gods, it's been so long I almost don't know where to start!  Despite 2020 being 2020, we still had a really nice end to the year.  That period from Halloween to Christmas is always my favorite and still felt special even though we didn't get to do some of our traditions like the annual Christmas tree lighting on the Pier. In some ways I'm actually finding 2021 to be rougher than 2020.  We've turned the page on the year but in LA we haven't really turned the page on the pandemic yet.  As of a few days ago we were still hovering above the 15% ICU bed availability so it's hard to feel a sense of progress, even as so many other places seem to be on a path to normalcy.  We're also in the midst of our umpteenth COVID scare of the past year with our umpteenth suite of negative test results to match.  I don't understand how it's possible for our family to get so many colds when we barely leave the house. Gettin' Back in Shape

After losing most of my Jason-weight pretty quickly, I've stalled hard the past few months.  I don't have any excuses but I have a ton of reasons: I really enjoy having wine with dinner most nights. I really enjoy having something sweet after dinner most nights. I really don't enjoy running or any sort of cardio-aerobic activity. I really hate counting calories or keeping a food journal. I seem to always have morning calls, which cause me to miss the exercise class that I like the best.  Every time I got into a rhythm, I would get interrupted with another project that requires morning calls. I can lose weight pretty easily when I actually get my butt in gear so I never feel a sense of urgency about it. I was still nursing and hungry all the time. I could go on & on b ut after weaning Jason about a month ago, I lost that last one.  Since then, I started working out with a trainer every Tuesday afternoon & going to her group class every Friday morning.
