Beautiful

Every day is so wonderful...  I am a big goof and am constantly singing to Lily, throughout the day.  Sometimes I make up songs about things like waiting for our food to heat up in the microwave or how smelly her diapers have been lately but mostly I find myself singing some good old hits by Christina Aguilera, Sheryl Crow, James Taylor and the Sundays.  I took these photos of Lily this afternoon and all I could think of was the above song.  The song seems to be about body issues and accepting yourself so I really hope Lily never has to go through the emotions in the song but it is a pretty song.
Watching Lily slowly turn into a little girl is kind of breathtaking.  When I was pregnant, we were always wondering what she'd look like at every stage.  Now that we're in the thick of it, I'm struck by how her imperfect teeth are what I love most right now.  They're snaggly and really far apart on top but I wouldn't change them for the world.    She's my little Chompers and I think she's beautiful... in every single way.  ;)

    Thanks! She's been such a goof lately that I can't get any pictures. She immediately just starts crawling toward the camera and trying to grab from me.

Holy smokes, I haven’t blogged since our November vacay to French Polynesia!!!!  I knew it had been a while but didn’t realize how far off the blagon I was! So much has happened in the past 2 months for us all & it feels a bit silly to blog about anything but at the same time, we all probably benefit from a little distraction, right? There have been a ton of tips out there about working from home.  Having given my share  already , I didn’t really read anything that I wasn’t already generally aware of and for the first month of quarantine it was pretty much business as usual for me. Good gods, it's been so long I almost don't know where to start!  Despite 2020 being 2020, we still had a really nice end to the year.  That period from Halloween to Christmas is always my favorite and still felt special even though we didn't get to do some of our traditions like the annual Christmas tree lighting on the Pier. In some ways I'm actually finding 2021 to be rougher than 2020.  We've turned the page on the year but in LA we haven't really turned the page on the pandemic yet.  As of a few days ago we were still hovering above the 15% ICU bed availability so it's hard to feel a sense of progress, even as so many other places seem to be on a path to normalcy.  We're also in the midst of our umpteenth COVID scare of the past year with our umpteenth suite of negative test results to match.  I don't understand how it's possible for our family to get so many colds when we barely leave the house. Gettin' Back in Shape

After losing most of my Jason-weight pretty quickly, I've stalled hard the past few months.  I don't have any excuses but I have a ton of reasons: I really enjoy having wine with dinner most nights. I really enjoy having something sweet after dinner most nights. I really don't enjoy running or any sort of cardio-aerobic activity. I really hate counting calories or keeping a food journal. I seem to always have morning calls, which cause me to miss the exercise class that I like the best.  Every time I got into a rhythm, I would get interrupted with another project that requires morning calls. I can lose weight pretty easily when I actually get my butt in gear so I never feel a sense of urgency about it. I was still nursing and hungry all the time. I could go on & on b ut after weaning Jason about a month ago, I lost that last one.  Since then, I started working out with a trainer every Tuesday afternoon & going to her group class every Friday morning.
