Crazy Weekend

This was one of the craziest weekends we've had in a while.  As of Friday, things seemed like they would be normal enough: chill Friday, friends of my parents coming over on Saturday, chill Sunday.  Friday went as planned and Saturday morning followed suit but at about 11 AM things took a turn for the crazy when 3 SNAFUS happened in very quick succession: 1) the dishwasher drain clogged, rendering the dishwasher unusable; 2) a pipe in the yard burst, causing a rush of water to spill into the street and forcing us to shut off the water for the next 8 hours; and 3) we realized that the bug bite on Lily's arm was actually ringworm.

1 & 2 didn't prevent us from having company but certainly left us with lots of dishes to hand wash and full toilets to flush at the end of the day.  3 freaked us out a bit but doesn't seem to bother Lily in the slightest.  We're treating the spot with a lotion and changing her sheets frequently so it should be gone soon.  

In Lily news, she's got loads of teeth coming in so she's been nursing and moaning in her sleep a lot.  :(

Outtakes from today's passport photo shoot.  The final product has a solid white background and looks more passport-y but these are way cuter.

    omg, these "passport" photos are too cute! i can't believe Lily is going to have a passport and mine has been expired for years now!

    The funniest part of the application is when you fill in the height. We were laughing so hard as I wrote "2 feet 6 inches." The newest pics of C on Facebook are so sweet. And I always laugh because the girls have the exact same wardrobe. I miss you guys so much lately and it makes me so sad that they can't play together. If we were both still in Chicago they would be besties already.

Holy smokes, I haven’t blogged since our November vacay to French Polynesia!!!!  I knew it had been a while but didn’t realize how far off the blagon I was! So much has happened in the past 2 months for us all & it feels a bit silly to blog about anything but at the same time, we all probably benefit from a little distraction, right? There have been a ton of tips out there about working from home.  Having given my share  already , I didn’t really read anything that I wasn’t already generally aware of and for the first month of quarantine it was pretty much business as usual for me. Good gods, it's been so long I almost don't know where to start!  Despite 2020 being 2020, we still had a really nice end to the year.  That period from Halloween to Christmas is always my favorite and still felt special even though we didn't get to do some of our traditions like the annual Christmas tree lighting on the Pier. In some ways I'm actually finding 2021 to be rougher than 2020.  We've turned the page on the year but in LA we haven't really turned the page on the pandemic yet.  As of a few days ago we were still hovering above the 15% ICU bed availability so it's hard to feel a sense of progress, even as so many other places seem to be on a path to normalcy.  We're also in the midst of our umpteenth COVID scare of the past year with our umpteenth suite of negative test results to match.  I don't understand how it's possible for our family to get so many colds when we barely leave the house. Gettin' Back in Shape

After losing most of my Jason-weight pretty quickly, I've stalled hard the past few months.  I don't have any excuses but I have a ton of reasons: I really enjoy having wine with dinner most nights. I really enjoy having something sweet after dinner most nights. I really don't enjoy running or any sort of cardio-aerobic activity. I really hate counting calories or keeping a food journal. I seem to always have morning calls, which cause me to miss the exercise class that I like the best.  Every time I got into a rhythm, I would get interrupted with another project that requires morning calls. I can lose weight pretty easily when I actually get my butt in gear so I never feel a sense of urgency about it. I was still nursing and hungry all the time. I could go on & on b ut after weaning Jason about a month ago, I lost that last one.  Since then, I started working out with a trainer every Tuesday afternoon & going to her group class every Friday morning.
