Alright

Today was my 34 week prenatal appointment. I am happy to report that the baby's heartbeat is still hovering at 150 beats per minute. She is still head-down and we confirmed that the bony mass that often pokes out of my right side is, in fact, her tiny baby butt. Even more exciting, I am now 1 centimeter dilated (TMI, I know). Although I've definitely felt different this week, labor is probably not imminent. I could apparently stay at 1 centimeter for the next 6 weeks and deliver on time, or I could end up going into labor next week. Only time will tell! In the meantime, I'm taking a trip to Target tomorrow to get together some more stuff for my hospital bag, just in case.

A few days ago we received a great package from my Mom. In addition to more Herbalife chocolate protein shake mix, which has been a life saver throughout my pregnancy, my parents sent the following adorable things that I had to share.


Various Oakland A's baby trinkets which were apparently purchased a few years ago in premature anticipation of Baby G.


Even though Baby G will be too little for hamburger cake, she chew on her hamburger toy! Matt and I have already decided that she's going to be a hamburger for Halloween and I imagine her costume will look something like this, only she'll be sandwiched in the middle.

These shoes are my favorite article of baby clothing we've received so far. Perfect for my punk rock princess. :)

Holy smokes, I haven’t blogged since our November vacay to French Polynesia!!!!  I knew it had been a while but didn’t realize how far off the blagon I was! So much has happened in the past 2 months for us all & it feels a bit silly to blog about anything but at the same time, we all probably benefit from a little distraction, right? There have been a ton of tips out there about working from home.  Having given my share  already , I didn’t really read anything that I wasn’t already generally aware of and for the first month of quarantine it was pretty much business as usual for me. Good gods, it's been so long I almost don't know where to start!  Despite 2020 being 2020, we still had a really nice end to the year.  That period from Halloween to Christmas is always my favorite and still felt special even though we didn't get to do some of our traditions like the annual Christmas tree lighting on the Pier. In some ways I'm actually finding 2021 to be rougher than 2020.  We've turned the page on the year but in LA we haven't really turned the page on the pandemic yet.  As of a few days ago we were still hovering above the 15% ICU bed availability so it's hard to feel a sense of progress, even as so many other places seem to be on a path to normalcy.  We're also in the midst of our umpteenth COVID scare of the past year with our umpteenth suite of negative test results to match.  I don't understand how it's possible for our family to get so many colds when we barely leave the house. Gettin' Back in Shape

After losing most of my Jason-weight pretty quickly, I've stalled hard the past few months.  I don't have any excuses but I have a ton of reasons: I really enjoy having wine with dinner most nights. I really enjoy having something sweet after dinner most nights. I really don't enjoy running or any sort of cardio-aerobic activity. I really hate counting calories or keeping a food journal. I seem to always have morning calls, which cause me to miss the exercise class that I like the best.  Every time I got into a rhythm, I would get interrupted with another project that requires morning calls. I can lose weight pretty easily when I actually get my butt in gear so I never feel a sense of urgency about it. I was still nursing and hungry all the time. I could go on & on b ut after weaning Jason about a month ago, I lost that last one.  Since then, I started working out with a trainer every Tuesday afternoon & going to her group class every Friday morning.
